Situated on a serene 10 acre equestrian property, high on Whidbey Island, the Ranch Cottage has expansive territorial views. In early morning or dusk hours, you may catch a glimpse of the 5 point buck watching over his herd as they graze on the property. Or watch the blue heron take flight right in front of you. If you are lucky, you will see the bald eagle that nests there.
At night, the brightness of the stars is only eclipsed by the concert of frogs in the nearby ponds. You are far, far from civilization and will feel your pressures ease the moment you arrive.
Enter the property up a winding driveway flanked with sumptuous towering evergreens - and property opens up in front of you. The Ranch Cottage is charming, with its shingled accents, large carriage style garage doors, spectacular landscaping, beautiful courtyards, and the 11 stall old barn.
As you pass through the front entrance (leave your cowboy boots at the door!), walk up the stairs covered in Brazilian Cherry hardwood into the beautiful great room. With its stone fireplace, large flat panel LCD television, gorgeous wood flooring and sweeping views of the property, the living room invites you to relax on its award winning, hand made, rustic leather furniture. Opening from this main area is a beautifully appointed covered deck for that glass of vintage port or scotch while soaking up the sunset on the cushioned whicker chairs. Or better yet, hot coffee and scones in the morning while watching the land wake up as it has unmarked for hundreds of years.
The kitchen is a masterpiece, designed by master chef, Miss Darcy, with a combination of cottage charm and gourmet sophistication, it really works. The granite countertops, lavish tile backsplashes, upscale stainless steel appliances, and fully outfitted cabinetry is a gourmet chef’s dream whether you are preparing a 5 course meal or simply opening that great bottle of wine to have with some great aged cheese.
The master bedroom is so inviting - you will never want to leave. The log furniture, magnificent art (including originals) and antique accents provide a real ranch feel; after all this land was once the home of the Whidbey Riding Club. The large windows provide an ever changing vista of acreage, or focus your attention on the flat screen LCD television with built in DVD player.
Or, do nothing but sink into the Tempur-pedic mattress and high end linens and blankets for the most comfortable night of your life. Ahhh, sleep!
The upper guest bedroom boasts a dark walnut and iron bed, with rich linens and comforters. The equestrian sculpture is exquisite. Sit on the antique bench in front of the window and listen to the birds in the nearby trees. Of course if you aren’t taking a nap or relaxing with a good book, you have your own entertainment system. Relax and enjoy.
The main bathroom, also with in floor heating, is gorgeous with high end tile and a wonderful jetted tub, perfect for soaking in after a busy day of hiking the property, biking Whidbey, or sightseeing in nearby Langley or Clinton. Don’t forget to bring your bubble bath and good book - you might want to stay for awhile.
The other rooms are also beautifully appointed with high end furnishings and of course a third bathroom as well.
But it is the grounds that are truly special. From the cobblestone courtyard with copper fire pit and comfortable seating, to the stand of birch that welcomes you to take a stroll under its branches, you will feel like you have found a bit of paradise. Relax on the bench under the birch trees and watch the wildlife around you. Feel free to walk the property, stand among the copse of old growth forest, so spiritual, and wonder what the world was like when they were young.
Don’t forget to check out the cherry trees or the blueberry bushes to see if there is any ripe fruit!
Only a few minutes from downtown Langley or Clinton, you are close to public beaches, shopping restaurants, and shops. But I suspect you will want to simply relax in the Ranch Cottage and enjoy all it has to offer.
The Ranch Cottage can accommodate a group of 8 comfortably. |
